Seven Steps of Affirmative Healing
© Richard Pinneau, 1989

These seven steps were inspired by those of the Twelve-Step® programs. The intent has been to restate them more directly and positively and to make them more self-affirming.

  1. I am aware of the important goals and needs in my life that I have neglected.
  2. I seek through prayer and meditation to contact the Heavenly Kingdom within myself, to attune to Its surpassing peace and light, and to be guided by Its loving, all-freeing will for me.
  3. I am determined not to be discouraged by my failings and shortcomings, but to welcome greater knowledge of them in order to learn from them. I turn those over to God, and recommit myself to bringing out the finest qualities within me.
  4. As I begin to glimpse how much God loves me, I make a commitment to learn to love myself — as well as others.
  5. I practice awareness of Spirit’s ever-available presence and of the divine gifts which It provides in every moment of my life.
  6. I give thanks for the divine assistance which ever guides me toward my eternal home of supreme peace, divine love and higher freedom.
  7. I seek to share awareness of these gifts with God’s other children according to their readiness.
