9/8/2003 From the ashrams and retreats of Yogananda's Self-Realization Fellowship centers in California, I've been able to post pictures of a few of the vivid visual glories. Posting stories of the inspiration and guidance there is going to take longer. Once we're back in the “concrete mixer of duality,” it will become a spiritual necessity to return to my notes and post some highlights here -->
6/9/2003 Shakespeare’s romance with the Infinite.   A glimpse at this web site’s design for a new type of presentation for what has been almost univerally judged the world’s greatest love poetry.
5/31/2003 Show & tell?  That was a pretty big thing in grammar school in times long past. The crunch now derives from tectonic grinding between showing and telling. Utterly intimidated, my ears resound with the mantrum, show not tell.
But... but... I didn‘t think the voice was addressing me.
5/30/2003 Calming the impatient pros.  That would include me. Meditation has been indispensible in regaining fluidity for my matter-caked brain. Also helpful has been calming the impatient prose. The link at right will take you to an article written for the Spiritual Finders correspondence course.
5/28/2003 Gall stone attacks? When you think you might be having a heart attack but the docs confirm it’s probably little more than “heartburn” - you might start thinking about gall stones. Especially if you’re an American who likes their fried foods. There are some interesting “liver-gallbladder cleanses” that have worked for several of my friends and students. The cleanses are fairly simple but vary in the intensity of their methods. All involve little more than olive oil, grapefruit juice and epsom salts. The value of daily apply juice (for its malic acid) in softening gall stones before seeking to encourage their passing will be discussed. Please email me asap if you have any personal experience questions to share so that I can weigh in further data while preparing this report.
5/21/2003 The awakening of genius:  A preview of a timeline of Shakespeare’s creative life, pulling together events within his life and within the surrounding tumultuous life of Elizabethan England and its burgeoning theatrical world.
5/20/2003 Okay, so here’s the plan...   [ to expand over next few weeks]
5/19/2003 I‘ll not presume to tout to you my love...
5/15/2003 Unsexed by Mother’s Day:
5/10/2003 Mother's Day for Orphans:  I never sank beneath the threat of “Mothers’ Day” / And thought I couldn’t grieve what never had...

Thursday, May 8, 8pm-9pm, at the C.L.E. in Greensboro, I will be offer one of the few occasions when I teach Proper Breathing for Healing and Health. Twenty years of teaching everything from biofeedback to yoga have repeatedly shown me how many people have had their breathing disrupted from proper patterns and how much that adds to their stress and slows their healing. To reserve a place, please send your full name and an evening phone number to us so that he have a “head count” and can contact you if there is any last-minute change -->
5/3/2003 Reiki training workshop on Saturday, May 3, 10am-5pm, Greensboro C.L.E. On a donation basis. This workshop will be co-taught by Richard Pinneau and Reiki-Master apprentices studying with him. Limited enrollment...  so please email us if you wish to make some token donation and attend. Also note that temporarily (during its drafting), major portions of our upcoming Reiki Handbook may be viewed by everyone.
4/23/2003 Your woman’s heart - taking care of it. The latest Time magazine (April 28, 2003) has a wonderful survey of the medical evidence to date on women and heart disease. Its likelihood of killing a woman in the U.S. is twelve times as bad as breast cancer! The risk factors for heart disease work differently for women than for men, and need their attention just as much as men’s risk factors do for men. Until women become better informed about these gender-specific concerns, they are likely to continue to have actually worse odds of death and disability after their first heart attack than do men! Please - take care of yourselves! Both sexes, however, benefit from awakening to proven strategies: smoking cessation; trimming the belly; lowering the blood pressure; making sure your overall cholesterol is low and your good HDL cholesterol is high (these mean getting away from the transfatty acids that are rampant in fast-food fried yummies); regular moderate aerobic exercise. More articles on this site in coming weeks about the simplest, most effective means of getting to the right place on each of these health dimensions.
4/22/2003 Metaphysical strategies embedded in the Harry Potter series?  Don’t laugh yet. My review should be out next week about a new book that presents some fairly compelling examples of J. K. Rowling’s use of coded names (sometimes obscure, sometimes obvious) . It might get you thinking... or reading if you haven’t yet.
4/21/2003 Alfalfa as a hopeful anti-arthritis aid?  This simple and natural supplement is so cheap and easy that it might be well worth your try - especially if you are at the beginning of some hint of arthritis-inflammed joints.
4/17/2003 When the student is ready.  How to break the news when someone calls wanting help “finding a guru?”
4/16/2003 Don’t burn in your baby’s scar. Summer time is a prime time for injuries; also for sunshine. But sunshine anytime may make you cry — or your youngster - if you let it aggravate scar formation.
4/15/2003 Prince Hamlet gets short shrift.  One of the most popular American writers on Shakespeare is Yale Professor Emeritus Harold Bloom. As the exemplar of the form of idolatry known as bardolatry, Bloom ever waxes enthusiastically about Hamlet as Shakespeare’s greatest creation. Before you spend money on Bloom’s expansive-sounding 2003 title Hamlet: Poem Unlimited, you may want to check out Richard”s review at Amazon.com -->
4/13/2003 Summer insect preparedness. A couple little-published but powerful strategies to take sting out of bites.
4/12/2003 Difficult relationships.  Some relationship strains cannot be resolved in the way they were created. There are ways to tackle these difficult ones with leverage from a higher level.
4/11/2003 Cupids, psychics, and eternal love.  The quest for rewarding human love is beautifully interwoven with our attunement to Divine Love.
4/11/2003 JLA temp Gita copy.  Demo of putting db of scripture on web site [in prep for rp Gita version]. Note: a large (400K) file.
4/10/2003 Desperately seeking Shakespeare.  What kind of human being does it take to accomplish what we find in the works of Shakespeare? If creativity matters, if genius matters, if spirituality matters to the future of our civilization, here are issues I would pursue.
4/9/2003 A mystic doctor you’ve got to meet:  Richard M. Bucke, physician to Walt Whitman.
4/8/2003 “Shakespeare Is Hard, but So Is Life”  Shakespeare’s great tragedies come to life in Fintan O’Toole’s engaging little volume. More details in review -->
4/7/2003 Twelve steps becoming seven. A renaissance of the classic steps of recovery in a positive form. The “Twelve Steps” of AA and associated groups have proven immensely powerful tools of healing. I thought the phrasing of the steps would please many people if reframed positively. What do you think -->
4/5/2003 Was Edgar Cayce the best-ever healer? Or is there a greater one within you? A story from the 1940’s that has served as a model for divine healing.
4/4/2003 Baby's ear problems resolved simply. Chronic earaches don’t always call for tubes. Instead, let’s trying boosting their immune systems naturally so that there is no need for tubes and antibiotics.

3/31/2003 Tai Chi + Chi Gong in Greensboro. Limited space for class starting mid-spring. See information on Center for Life Enrichment site ->
3/22/2003 Why I never underestimate homeopathy. While I still don’t quite ‘get’ homeopathy, I honor its potency because have observed in person its multi-faceted healing.
3/21/2003 A forerunner of the new race...  the story of one young woman's awakening to the Light of the Soul that blazes (however hidden) in each of us, awaiting the spiritual practice that opens our spiritual eyes to it.
3/20/2003 Meditation’s impact on brain.  Having a background in psychological research I was the type that need concrete evidence that meditation was actually worth the time it demands. Once I found really knowledgeable guidance in meditation, I could measure the impact. This is the story of how a researcher opened the door to spiritual practice.
3/19/2003 Buried Buddhist Brother. An ode on what it is to love and lose a sibling — and to watch his honor and his dreams abused.
3/18/2003 Arthritis-like joint pain may reflect a diet that is not agreeing with your individual system. Here’s an example of how one person may be able to ferret out indiosyncratic reactions they are having to common foods - even if those foods are blessings to almost everyone else.
3/16/2003 Allergies disappeared one summer. That was far more than I had ever hoped for, having gone through the standard medical regimen of allergy desensitization shots. This was a simple remedy well-known to India...

2/18/2003 I Loved a Pedophile” (updated 3/1/2003)
Ugh! Doesn't sound like a compelling read, does it? Truth be told, I don't know if the old man can be classified as a pedophile (lover of children?). In any event he loved me in ways that did not work for me. Yet must I confess I’m not sure...
